Check your blood pressure during Heart Week

Feelgood and Blodtrycksdoktorn collaborate to raise awareness about this and to help more people keep track of their blood pressure. During Heart Week, as a Volvo employee, you have the opportunity to:

Check if you’re at risk for high blood pressure through the Blood Pressure Test.

Measure your blood pressure at the temporary measurement stations set up at Volvo’s workplace in Torslanda.

To regularly measure blood pressure should be as frequently done as inspecting your car, going to the dentist, or celebrating your birthday – something done every year.

A blood pressure measurement takes about 10 minutes and gives you the opportunity to prevent heart and vascular diseases. Time well invested, wouldn’t you agree?

More about high blood pressure

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, describes a condition where the pressure in the blood vessels is elevated. This means the heart has to work harder to pump blood through the body’s vascular system.

Blood pressure is measured in two values: the higher value is called systolic pressure, which is the pressure in the vessels when the heart beats and pumps out blood. The lower value is called diastolic pressure, which is the pressure in the vessels when the heart is resting between beats.

Blood Pressure Values:

Normal blood pressure: Systolic pressure below 120 mm Hg and diastolic pressure below 80 mm Hg.

Elevated blood pressure: Systolic pressure between 120-129 mm Hg and diastolic pressure below 80 mm Hg.

Hypertension (high blood pressure): Systolic pressure of 130 mm Hg or higher, or diastolic pressure of 80 mm Hg or higher.
